Dr. Michael J. Murphy is a Professor in the Department of Dermatology and Senior Dermatopathologist at UConn Health Center, Farmington, CT, USA. He is US-board certified in Anatomic Pathology, Dermatopathology and Molecular Diagnostics by the American Boards of Pathology, Dermatology and Clinical Chemistry. Dr. Murphy is a Fellow of the College of American Pathology (FCAP) and a Fellow of the Faculty of Pathology, Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (FFPath).

He is actively engaged in teaching and mentoring medical students and residents/fellows, and has a keen interest in the role of molecular technologies and digital imaging in the diagnosis and management of skin disorders.

After attending medical school at University College Dublin, Ireland, he completed an anatomic pathology residency at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School, Boston MA, followed by a dermatopathology fellowship at Albany Medical Center, Albany NY. He has co-authored over 100 original articles, reviews, case reports, and book chapters, and is the editor of the recently published textbooks “Molecular Diagnostics in Dermatology and Dermatopathology” and “Diagnostic and Prognostic Biomarkers and Therapeutic Targets in Melanoma.”
